Spice extends human life, expands consciousness, and grants limited prescient abilities. For the Spacing Guild navigators, it provides the ability to safely fold space and guide starships between worlds. For the Bene Gesserit, it enhances their already formidable mental and physical powers.

Great Houses scheme and wage war for the right to harvest melange, while CHOAM regulates its distribution across the galaxy.
